The Cannabis Compliance, Training & Mentorship Program was launched in New York to help legacy cannabis operators transition into the legal market by providing the necessary information and skills. The program, offered in partnership with SUNY Morrisville and Cornell University, included classes on tax structure, compliance requirements, and incorporating cannabis operations. Despite regulators’ efforts, some participants are still determining whether the program will improve their license chances. The state’s legalization process has been slow, and the role of the program in the licensing process still needs to be clarified.
